Chapter 22 of “The Story” begins with the important words of John’s Gospel: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” This signals the entrance of God into “The Story” and the final reckoning with the “darkness” of sin. And when God enters, we see many of the themes from the previous chapters converge on the birth of a child: promises of a kingdom, of nations bringing their treasures, of the glory of God dwelling among us. At the end of the chapter, we are in Jerusalem for the celebration of the Passover. There was a child there who taught the teachers, his parents, and us too.
