Sermon: “Worship Together” - 1 Corinthians 14 Building his argument from the previous chapter, Paul begins 1 Corinthians 14 with the words “pursue love” and then describes this pursuit in the use of a church's spiritual gifts (which are described in chapter 12) in worship. The service he describes which involves tongues and prophecy seems strange and alien compared to our worship today. But maybe that is because the Christian Church has had centuries to employ the basic principals that Paul outlines in this chapter, that worship should be 1) understandable and in 2) good order. And let's add one more thing to the list based on Psalm 150, which is that worship to God is also filled with joy because of the gifts we receive in this time.
