Jesus guides His followers in our service to others. In the last chapters of Matthew, our Lord first describes the “good and faithful” servants as those who are always watching and prepared for the Master’s return. What does that look like? Jesus tells a parable about a wedding procession and we are drawn to the scene of maidens who are wise to bring enough oil for their lamps and faithfully join the procession honoring the bridegroom with joy. Wisdom and faithfulness work together for God’s servants to be always watching and ready to greet our Lord with joy.
