"Have this mind among yourselves, which is in Christ Jesus"
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week - a sacred journey the church takes every year to the heart of our faith to spiritually revisit the cross and the empty tomb that testify to our salvation.
The Bible portions that are traditionally read on Palm Sunday give us the voices of the crowd who shouted "Hosanna!" on the streets of Jerusalem, but also the voice of the Apostle Paul who encourages the people of God to have "this mind" among them. That is, the mind "which is in Christ Jesus". That sounds easy, at first. But then we think of how Paul encountered the Risen Christ and the way Paul preached, taught and wrote about faith "in Christ." And then we think about how we are the Body of Christ in this world and how the humble service of Jesus is living among us. And then we think about how we receive Jesus when we need forgiveness and strength. Suddenly, there is a lot on our minds when they are "in Christ Jesus"!
