Among the amazing things that John reveals in his heavenly vision – among the saints singing around the throne, the great multitude and tears being wiped away – there is a “stream that makes glad the river of God” (Psalm 46). A stream of living water flows through the scene and appears again in the Holy City at the end of the Bible’s last book. The image of flowing and living water has a significant connection to the Promised Land, to the Holy Spirit and to our place in the “Communion of All Saints.”
