On the one hand, you might say that I am taking a break from preaching this Sunday. But, on the other hand, I've actually been working on this meditation off and on over the past year! At this special service, you will be asked to pick out your favorite Christmas carol from the hymnal. I've been gathering some information on each of those carols throughout the year, so each year we do this special service, we'll likely end up with a different set of meditations. God's Holy Spirit will lead us to the songs we most need at this time, I am sure. Come and prepare for the New Year with a special service of worship and praise in the middle of the Christmas season!
The story of Christmas was told long before the shepherds of Bethlehem were watching their flocks by night. Centuries earlier, God reveals the plan for our salvation at times of extraordinary change and challenge for His people. The message God sends through His prophets gives us ways to meet the challenges of our day while keeping the hope and joy of Christmas alive in our hearts.
Join us at Bethany Lutheran Church beginning Sunday, December 2 and continuing through Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Epiphany Sunday (January 6) as we celebrate how God spoke to His people of old by the prophets, and how He now speaks to us by the Son those prophets foretold (Hebrews 1:1-2).
