Sermon: “Gifted Together” - 1 Corinthians 12:1-11

The first part of 1 Corinthians chapter 12 is all about receiving gifts from God. In the first chapters of this letter and all the way throughout, Paul is addressing the divisions in the congregation. They are gifted in a number of ways, but selfish, it seems. Their hearts need to be turned toward God and toward each other. So, Paul is choosing his words carefully when he defines what their gifts are and what they are to be used for. The gifts in any church are 1) from the Spirit; 2) given by grace; and 3) intended for the common good.
