Sermon: “Invited to Dinner" - Luke 14:1-6
When Jesus is invited to dinner on the Sabbath, the Pharisees are watching Him. What is the conflict between these two? Why are the Pharisees concerned with healing on the Sabbath day? And what does Jesus teach them about the right way to obey God? As we begin the season of Lent, we learn from Jesus that obedience goes deeper than just our actions. We cannot do God's will on earth without love.
For the second series in a special campaign to INVITE! people in and around Bethany to work together in ministry, we'll look at 1 Corinthians 12-15. Paul wrote to the Corinthian church at a time when there was a lot of conflict in that community. His words help us understand the way we were called, gathered and inspired by the Holy Spirit for a purpose in God's Kingdom. During this series, the sermons and Sunday School lessons will match each other so we learn each Sunday as a family.
